Air Fryer Smothered Pork Chops with a Mushroom Gravy
Our juicy pork chops are never boring, but this time they’re extra delicious because of the mushroom-onion gravy. Who doesn’t love gravy? We’re obsessed with it and these smothered pork chops are always a hit in the test kitchen. For time efficiency we like to start the gravy first. After the point where it starts to simmer, we’ll air fry the pork chops. You can also make the gravy ahead of time (even a couple days ahead of time and just keep it in the fridge). Then when the pork chops air fry, re-heat the gravy so it is warm when ready to serve.

Ingredients
Pork Chop Ingredients
3pork chops(6 oz. (170g) each), rinsed and patted dry
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil then add onions and mushrooms. Cook until onions are softened and mushrooms are golden and excess mushroom liquid has evaporated, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and butter, and cook for another minute, or until translucent.
Whisk the in the flour and about 1/2 cup of broth. Whisk until incorporated then whisk in the remaining both. Season with salt and pepper, to taste (the saltiness and flavors will concentrate some when it reduces down).
Once the gravy starts to boil, reduce heat to medium-low. Stirring often, simmer for about 10 minutes or until the gravy starts to thicken and reaches your desired consistency. Check for seasoning and salt again if needed.
Air Frying the Pork Chops:
Lightly coat the pork chops with olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Place in the air fryer.
Air Fry at 380°F/193°C for 8 minutes, then flip the pork chops.
Continue to Air Fry at 380°F/193°C for another 2-6 minutes or until cooked through and internal temperature is between 145°-160°F (63°-71°C) depending on your preferred doneness.
Serving
Plate the air fried pork chops and spoon gravy over the top or add the pork chops to pan with the gravy and serve warm. Garnish if desired.
