This low carb air fryer chicken breast recipe is on our regular rotation. Juicy, flavorful and tender chicken breast is super amazing. It’s crazy quick and easy to make with endless possibilities. Our recipe for air fried herbed chicken breast uses dried herbs and the flavor is outstanding. But you can use what ever sauce or marinade that you want. Air frying the chicken breast is healthy and can use very little oil. Add the healthy air fried chicken breast on a salad for the lowest carb meal. Or you can add it to a bed of pasta and sauce, sandwich or quesadilla. How about some chicken tacos? Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo? The possibilities are endless and delicious. How to Air Fry Chicken Breast
The thickness of chicken can vary so much. Also, different air fryers cook hotter than others. So test air fry one chicken breast first. After your first batch, you’ll know more of what the exact time and temp is for your specific size of chicken breast and model of air fryer. Approximate Air Fryer Cooking Times for Different Sized Boneless Chicken Breasts are cooked at 380°F/195°C: (for thicker chicken breasts, it is recommended to cut several 1/2″ deep slits in the chicken so it will cook through to the middle better)
- 6 oz. – 12-15 minutes
- 8 oz. – 14-18 minutes
- 10 oz. – 16-20 minutes
- 12-16 oz. – 18-22 minutes
- If cooking multiple chicken breasts, don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Only cook in a single layer.

Healthy Air Fryer Herbed Chicken Breast
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 8 ounces (227g) each)
- oil spray or olive oil , to coat chicken
- 1/2 teaspoon dried herb seasoning (basil, thyme, oregano, etc. - whatever you like best or any preferred seasoning)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt , or to taste
- black pepper , to taste

- Pat dry the chicken breasts. For thicker chicken breasts, cut several 1/2" deep slits in the chicken so it will cook through to the middle better. Coat each chicken breast with oil, then season with dried herbs, salt, & pepper. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket or rack in a single layer.
- Air Fry at 380°F(195°C) for 14-18 minutes, turning the chicken over halfway through cooking. Air fry the chicken until the internal temp is 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part. If you’re cooking bone-in chicken breast, cook for additional 2-6 minutes, if needed.
- Allow the chicken breast to rest for 5 minutes. Slice and serve while warm.

- Recipe timing is based on a non-preheated air fryer. If air fryer is pre-heated, reduce cooking time by a few minutes.
- Recipes were tested in 3.4 to 6 qt air fryers. If using a larger air fryer, the recipe might cook quicker so adjust cooking time.
- Remember to set a timer to turn as directed in recipe.
If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).

My first time making these in my new air fryer! I have the gourmia and they came out delicious! Next time I’ll cut my thick chicken breasts thinner for quicker cooking.
