Air Fryer Green Bean Casserole {Quick & Easy!}
When you’re wanting a great easy side dish, our air fryer green bean casserole is perfect! This popular holiday side dish is easy to make by air frying green beans!
Can you make green bean casserole in the air fryer?
The answer is definitely yes. We’ve tested our technique so many times and figured out how to get the texture of the fresh green beans perfect. We don’t like mushy green beans so our technique can allow you to decide exactly how “cooked” you like your green beans to be.
VIDEO: How to Cook Air Fryer Green Bean Casserole
Tips for How to make air fryer green bean casserole recipe
- Use fresh green beans. The texture will give you more of a bite and not overly soft. And fresh just tastes better for this air fryer green bean casserole recipe.
- Fried onions. Don’t forget the fried onions because the flavor and texture is amazing.
- Different flavors of condensed soup bases. You don’t have to use the standard cream of mushroom soup base. There’s so many different other condensed soup options like Condensed cream of chicken soup.
- Additional seasoning. Make sure to use enough seasoning because without it, the green beans can be super bland. Adding enough salt and pepper will make the dish taste so much better. The cream of mushroom soup will often vary in seasonings and it lends some saltiness to the recipe. Make sure to taste the mixture when you are adding it to the green beans and season to taste if needed.
Can You Use Frozen or Canned Green Beans?
- FROZEN: Sure you can use frozen green beans. Just skip the timing that we have listed for fresh green beans. Frozen green beans only need to be warmed up or slightly cooked. So just air fry the frozen green beans until they are warmed and cooked to your preferred texture. After that, continue with the recipe.
- CANNED: Yes you can use canned green beans. Drain all the water from the can, then add the green beans to the air fryer cooking dish. Warm the canned green beans for about 4 minutes at 360°F. After that, continue with the recipe starting at Step 3 where you add the cream of mushroom mixture to the green beans.
Baking Pans that are Perfect for Air Frying
We love these 8-inch square baking pans for air frying in oven-style air fryers as well as some larger basket-type air fryers. They don’t have bulky handles which will get in the way for some air fryers.
These style pans are perfect for basket-type air fryers. The handles make it so much easier to take out of the basket.

- Air Fry at 340°F/170°C for 11-13 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking. Cook green beans until tender and sauce is bubbly.
- Top with the fried onions, then cheese and Air Fry at 340°F/170°C for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Notes
If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).
