What are the Best Cuts of Steak for Steak Bites?
Everyone has a favorite cut of steak. For the types of steak to air fry, use your favorite. Depending on the budget, we prefer ribeye, sirloin, tri-tip, and chuck shoulder steaks (aka London Broil steaks). These have enough marbling and fat to cook the steak tender and juicy. If you use a tougher cut of steak we recommend cutting the beef cubes into smaller pieces. That way when they’re air fried, they’re easier to bite into.

Air Fryer Steak Bites & Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 1 lb. (455 g) steaks , cut into 1” cubes & patted dry
- 8 oz. (227 g) mushrooms (cleaned, washed and halved)
- 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Butter , melted (or oil)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
- salt , to taste
- Black pepper , to taste
- Minced parsley , garnish
- Melted butter for finishing , optional
- Chili Flakes , for finishing, optional
Equipment
Instructions
- Combine the steak cubes and mushrooms. Make sure they're about the same size for even cooking. Coat with the melted butter and then season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Preheat the Air Fryer at 400°F for 4 minutes. This will give the steak a good sear.
- Add the steak and mushrooms in the air fryer basket or rack and spread it in one even layer. Air fry at 400°F for 10-18 minutes, shaking and flipping and the steak and mushrooms about 3 times through cooking process (time depends on your preferred doneness, thickness of the steak, size of the air fryer).
- Check the steak to see how well done it is cooked. If you want the steak more done, add an extra 2-5 minutes of cooking time.
- (optional) Garnish with parsley and drizzle with optional melted butter and/or optional chili flakes. Season with additional salt & pepper if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Recipes were cooked in 3-4 qt air fryers. If using a larger air fryer, the recipe might cook quicker so adjust cooking time.
- If cooking in multiple batches (if you have a small air fryer or are doubling the recipe), the first batch will take longer to cook if Air Fryer is not already pre-heated.
- Remember to set a timer to shake/flip/toss the food as directed in recipe.
If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).

This was a good recipe in my opinion, but hubby was not a big fan…. I used more Worcestershire sauce than called for because we love Worcestershire. Part of hubby’s complaint was he thought the steak was too tough, but I thought it was fine with the sirloin I used… cooked each batch (had to do 2 batches in my AF). Thinking about trying this with boneless skinless chicken breasts….
So simple with ingredients already on hand. Absolutely delicious and didn’t make my whole house smoky and smelly afterwards, the only downside to cooking steak. I will make this again, and experiment with different cuts of meat.
We totally agree that cooking air fryer steak is awesome! Easy clean up and the fire alarm doesn’t go off. 🙂
One of my first meals cooked in the AF. Made it according to recipe and I must say it was amazing. I like Medium Rare, hubby likes medium so I cooked his about 3 minutes longer. He enjoyed it very much. Thank you!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was amazing! The steak was so tender and flavorful. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Made this last night with flank steak. It was great! And so easy! Next time I think I will try Montreal Steak Seasoning and add some onions.

May I ask which part of the steak can I use for this dish?
Thank you.
Hi Anne,
For the types of steak, use your favorite. Depending on the budget, we prefer ribeye, sirloin, tri-tip, and chuck shoulder steaks (aka London Broil steaks). Enjoy!
Would be nice to list heat settings for like Steak Bites, some fryers have 2-3 meat settings.
Excellent… I marinated the steak bites, mushrooms, 1/4 of a cup of Worcestershire and 1 stp of garlic powder for about 6 hours. Right before adding to my air fryer I tossed some melted butter. I cooked for 9 minutes stirring every 3 minutes. Steak was right at medium with some pieces medium rare – perfect!
Thanks for sharing how you made it and so happy you enjoyed the recipe!
I just tried this recipe, only difference in what I did was add shrimp! It was absolutely amazing!!! So good!!
What kind of steak do you use
We love using rib eye, tri-tip and New York strip. The marbeling give amazing flavor too.
Looked good, so made this for dinner tonight. Came out great, I added some sliced onions to it and baked some red new potatoes to go with it! Yeah, it was good, my kids made sure there were no left overs for tomorrow.
