These homemade air fryer pizza egg rolls are so good! We ate several batches of these style rolls at our local County Fair and we were obsessed! WOW, they were so cheesy, sauce and delicious. The deep fried egg rolls wrappers give a perfect crunch and these pizza rolls are absolutely addicting.

Air Fryer Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls

We headed to the test kitchen to create an air fried recipe to share with you all. These are like pepperoni pizza rolls you could buy frozen in the stores that are small and square shaped. But these rolls are in the “egg roll” shaped and they don’t have any egg in them. The term is just to identify the shape and better yet, each bite tastes even better because the egg rolls wrappers are thin and crispy. Making them air fried and crispy is the best homemade way. Totally better than buying the frozen pizza rolls because homemade has much better tasting sauce and more cheese. Everything about these fair inspired pizza egg rolls are amazing. Your family and kids will enjoy these and they’re the perfect appetizer recipe. And best of all, it’s the easy fair food to make at home and enjoy year round!

How to Make Pizza Egg Rolls in Air Fryer

There’s so many delicious ways to make these! The possibilities are endless for this filling. Just like all the options for pizza toppings, you can use those for the pizza egg roll filling.

  • Don’t roll these too too big. If they’re burrito sized, the filling might not cook all the way through.
  • We use the classic pepperoni, sauce, mozzarella cheese trio. It’s popular and super delicious.
  • To add more vegetable variety to the filling we added chopped bell peppers. But you can use different things like chopped mushrooms, onions, kale or what ever you like.
  • For different meat options you can use cooked sausage. Make sure the sausage is pre-cooked. Ham and pineapple are great combinations too!
  • Try BBQ sauce if you want! Make a bbq chicken egg roll. But again, make sure the chicken is fully cooked before rolling.
  • The fun part about these appetizers is eating them. They truly are fantastic and you will find yourself making this all the time and in different ways!

Why are your rolls hard and dry?

Although these are not deep fried, they still need a good amount of oil spray on the outside. The hot circulating air can make food crispy, but these pizza rolls do need oil spray evenly and generously. The oil helps make the rolls crispy and less hard and dry. Sure, you’re using a good amount of oil spray, but it’s much MUCH less than deep frying them.

Can you freeze these?

Yes, it’s super easy. Allow them to cool completely and store them in air tight bags or containers. Before eating again, take them out of the fridge and cook them in the air fryer at 380 for about 5-7 minutes or until they are heated through. You don’t need to thaw them first. They will cook fine from frozen. But again, if you rolled burrito sized rolls, you might have to thaw them first! 🙂 Hope you enjoy these air fryer pizza egg rolls!

Air Fryer Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls

One of our fair food favorites that we adapated for the Air Fryer. These are great with so many different dips to serve with: marinara, ranch and bbq sauce are delish! Choose your favorite or have several for variety.
Makes about 15 egg rolls

  • 4 ounces (113 g) pepperoni slices , chopped
  • 1 cup (112 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) marinara sauce , plus extra for dipping
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried Italian seasoning (or any combination of dried basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) bell peppers , chopped
  • 15 (15) egg roll wrappers
  • water , for sealing the wrappers
  • oil spray , for coating the egg rolls
  • 1/2-1 cup (120-240 ml) optional dipping sauce of choice , marinara, ranch, bbq sauce, etc.



  • Add pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, sauce, Italian seasonings and bell peppers in bowl. Mix well.
    Make Filling
  • Using egg roll wrappers or spring roll wrappers, add about 2 Tablespoons of the filling to each wrapper. Tuck and roll the wrapper around the filling (watch the video in the post above to see how to roll even and tight rolls). Brush the top corner of the wrapper with water to help seal the wrapper end, and then finish rolling the egg roll. Repeat for all the egg rolls.

  • Brush or spray rolls with oil to coat. Place a single layer of egg rolls in the air fryer basket (cook in batches).

  • Air Fry 380°F for 12-16 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cook until the wrapper is crispy and browned. If you use the larger wrapper or if your wrappers are thicker cook a little longer so that all the layers can cook through to avoid being tough and chewy.

  • Allow to cool a little (the filling will be super hot right after cooking), and then serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).
