Are hot dogs really better in the air fryer?

Folks always ask us this and it’s a great question to ask when it comes to air frying hot dogs. This is always up for debate and it depends on what you’re comparing the air fryer to. Air frying hot dogs is way better than microwaving hot dogs and boiling hot dogs. Sorry, but that’s our honest opinion. The air fryer gives a nice crust on the outside of the hot dog. When it comes to grilling hot dogs, we love the grilled flavor and this technique is our favorite. But when you’re only needing to a hot dog or two, then air frying is definitely the way to go. Cooking them in the air fryer is much quicker than grilling and if you cook them hot and long enough, you can get a nice char.

How To Make Air Fried Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs in Air Fryer

  • If you don’t like to have crispy hot dog edges, then make sure to wrap the bacon all the way to the tips.
  • One way to keep the bacon from shrinking away from the hot dog ends is to use toothpicks to secure the bacon.
  • For smaller hot dogs, one slice of bacon should be enough. For longer or thicker hot dogs, you can use 2 slices of bacon if you’re a bacon lover. 🙂
  • Avoid overlapping the bacon when wrapping around the hot dog. You want to make sure the bacon is in a single layer around the hot dog so the bacon can cook crispy.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket and make sure to lay all the hot dogs in a single layer. Leave a little space between them so the hot air can crisp the bacon on all sides.
  • Make sure to remove the toothpick before eating!
  • And if you want warm crispy buns, air fry those too for about a minute. Wow, it’s so good when the hot dog buns are warm!
  • All recipe details are in the recipe box below.
  • Cooking bacon separately is so easy. Here’s how.
